The Simrad SSANZ two handed series finished with a serious blast last Saturday.

With no let from the strong westerlies, the fleet were sent on a shortened heavy weather course to wrap up the three race series. Conditions were rugged but all five entries, Taeping, Tigre, Hooters Hyper and Dirty Deeds finished, a testament to the boats and their crews heavy weather skills. Line prize went to Taeping, with Tigre, Taeping and Hooters taking the handicap prizes. See some wet actiontaken from Tigre on You Tube, amazing how the camera dries itself, better than my sunglasses.! Gusts were recorded as high as 47 knots, so well done to everyone for racing so well. Our multihull fleet has been very well represented in this series. There is a prizegiving at the RNZYS on 8 October , where the largest Multihull trophy known, the Sundreamer cup will be awarded amongst other prizes.

The first Gold Cup race is this Saturday, with a start at 0900, a nice 55 nm blast around the Gulf. There are boats entered so get details from Richmond, RNZYS or Akarana, wind is supposed to calm down a bit by then, and its a great race.

First Squadron race also not far away Oct 2., Opening day race in the afternoon, with childrens activities during the day and a free feed after the race.
