Another fantastic Coastal.
Another fantastic Coastal. Special mention and thanks to Jon, Vincent Pants Events and all the club volunteers who put in alot of effort to ensure the ongoing success of this event. Great to see so many 8.5’s and they all featured well in the prizes. Its a great sense of achievement to get the boat ready and get up there, so well done to all those who put in some much time and effort to get their boats up to Cat 3. It does not get much better than the ride across Bream Bay in a fresh south westerly on a sunny day, especially when a lot of people are still at work! Congratulations to all the divisional winners and an especially good result for Split Enz who came all the way from Noumea, and won first prize on handicap for division 6. We hope to see George and his crew again next year. Overall record still there for next year so we look forward to the 30th edition next year. Come to Club night this Thursday and tell all the stories. Full results on the website.
A meeting has been arranged for Monday 1st November at 6.00 at the RNZYS with Dan Garnier of PIC Insurance brokers to discuss multihull Insurance. Dan is keen to develop an product for us using local insurers and has suggested he meet with us to discuss our requirements. This is a very timely opportunity for us to let him know what we need as a group of boat owners, so please come and let Dan know. It could end up with a good product tailored for us. If you can not make but could let me know any thoughts please contact me. The key issues are values to be insured, where are the boats kept, do you require racing insurance, what sort of excess would you be able to live with for racing, do you mostly cruise or race.
No racing this weekend so take a break. Then next week we have:
Wednesday Night RNZYS.
Friday Night Rum Race
***Saturday Day 1 of the RNZYS Summer Series. Up to 5 windward /leewards. First Start 1000 off Northern leading. This is always a great day out racing and full on start line and mark rounding action, our very own Xtreme regatta. Please invite members of Team Emirates to come out with you.
Finally places are now available to be booked at the marina in Opua for BOI race week in January. They have allocated the marina berth at Ashby’s which was alot of fun last year so book in now.
