Commodore's Update
Eventful Wednesday night last week in the RNZYS race, with a puffy high speed reach out of the harbour . With a guest entry AC 45, being given a hard time by Team Vodofonesailing, it was all on out the harbour. A rig down on the big tri left AC45 a clear run home. Excellent conditions, and a great turn out in the bar afterwards. Nice handicap win to Creepy Crawler, with Whio second and Lucifer third. Line win to Triple 8, with Charleston second and Taeping third. The series is close as usual with Voom leading on handicap and Teamvodafone Vodophone on line, but its still very open and still lots to race for. We have had 19 boats sailing at various points this summer in the series, so thats a solid fleet, and consistently one of the largest in the RNZYS series.
Don’t forget their is also racing on Wednesday night with RYC, and a few boats have been enjoying that.
Also Rum Racing is still available, and with the hottest summer for ages, nice chance to knock off on Friday early and get out there.
RNI. We decided to postpone it for another year. Many thanks to Bruce Arms and Steve Arms and their crews all who remained keen but for a number of reasons we decided to wait and get a bigger fleet and try again.
Coming up is the Round Waiheke Race with Pine Harbour yacht Club on Feb 16th. Always a popular event, see their site and get in your entry. Starts down in that area. Also Race to Te Kouma, 5 March as part of the Commodores Cup, a great course and a nice place to end up.
Finally boats please for the Club Night sail on Thursday 24 March for the young people from Pt Chavalier Yacht Club, a great chance for us to take out these young sailors, we need numbers so I can tell them how many they can bring. Please let us know asap.
