Commodore Update 10-June
Just back from travels so a bit of catching up to do on whats going on but....
Well done to Simon and his crew on getting to Fiji first( just) great watching the final stages on the excellent website coverage. Once they cranked it up into the 20’s we all knew they would do it! Having a multihull get there first is great milestone for the Club, and hopefully will see an increasing participation in offshore events for those keen. The door is open.. Good luck to Nitro for the rest of the trip , they are an open deck cat at just 10.m so this is a great achievement.
Saturday series seems to be going well, with Triple 8, This way up and Hyper close for the first three places on handicap, and Triple 8, Taeping and this way up the first three on Line. Good to see Timberwolf now back into it. A few boats still being worked on including Exodus, which is taking a bit longer due to the indifferent weather of late. Next race tomorrow. Forecast looks 15-20, not as wet as today.
Awesome initiative by Sara and Josh Tucker to organise the have a go day with the RNZYS Youth programme this Sunday. Several boats are making themselves available so this will a great chance to give the youth sailors a day out on our race boats. Its all happening at Westhaven from 11.00am.
Next Club night June 30 is the AGM, so be great to see everyone there, and to participate in whats going on.
