Commodore Update 4-Aug

There has been some great winter racing.
The first SSANZ was challenging in many ways for the crews, with an wide range of wind conditions, and almost every boat had a go at being in the lead at some point. Great race for the smaller boats, so well done. Results all on the SSANZ website. Many boats were given a safety inspection and were all able to comply so this is good news. SSANZ will even come alongside after the race to check. Remember both crew should know where everything is, and be able to produce it for inspection readily. Next SSANZ Race Sat 13 August, getting longer.

Well done to Team Vodaphone Sailing for a mid winter Trans Tasman crossing, not something everyone would enjoy.

They will no doubt have some stories for us when they are back, and hopefully now enjoying some warmer and moderate sailing conditions. Australian owner Sean Langman has also upgraded from keel boats to an Orma 60 now sailing in OZ, so its all on at 60 ft as well.

Thanks to Chris Skinner for his presentation to club night. The collective off shore experience is growing all the time, remember there is a race to New Caledonia run by RAYC next year, so start thinking. There are lots of interesting topics to cover so if you have any ideas for club , or know of anyone visiting who might like to talk please let us know. We want to keep making sure these nights are interesting and varied, and great chance to all keep in touch with each other.

Club pennant are again available. Excellent quality, digitally printed with the club logo white header band with ropes out each side, standard club pennant size .6 x .3 These will last for ages. $35.50 plus gst each. Let me know and we will get an initial run done. Support the club and fly the flag. Orders please. I will order the first lot next Friday.

RNZYS Winter Sat race this Saturday, could be nice with the high out there.
