Race News Winter series wrap up from the Commodore

An awesome last race with Tigre sailing very hard to take the handicap first place prize for the winter. Here is a shot in honour of their win, sailing well hard near the finish. Clive and his crew put alot of hard work into getting their boat race hardened, so its a great result and great to see the boat going so well. Clive was spotted in a full wetsuit the night before, giving the boat the full race preparation, so there is total commitment. Big sister Exodus came second for the series on handicap so its a nice result for Ron Givens attractive sports catamarans both with luxury accommodation even. The equally pleasing on the eye Dirty Deeds finished third on handicap, but ran a very impressive Line honours programme as well to take a spectacular line series win for this winter. These boys are always in the money. Trouble is now in store for all of us the This Way Up programme has seriously would up the boat speed, with a tasty new rig, great looking sails and speed galore, to take second on line for the series. Exodus finished third on line. Rather conveniently we also have a shot of all three line honours attached, in the order they finished for the series, Thanks to Ken for these fine shots.

We had 15 boats in total enter the winter series at some point which is a great number for the winter. Thanks to everyone who competed, and with not to many more boats we could have the largest fleet at the RNZYS next year. Club Prizegiving this month will reveal the winners of the Club combined winter series, so be there. You need 6 Saturdays, a rum race and a Simrad to be in the running. One more Simrad to go.

The summer series programme is approaching. There is heaps on and some great opportunities to race hard but also socialise with club members both home and away.
Get your diaries out and dates in. The entry forms and race details are all on the various clubs websites. Most importantly get your boat out there, and if you need help let me know for the work day.

Finally please circulate this summer programme widely and let us know if there are e mail addresses to be added or changed, or if you want crew etc added.
