Update from the Commodore
Back after a few weeks away now ready to resume transmission on the race news. There is a lot going on and this summer is going to be huge. Get working on those winter repairs/maintenance. The final summer programme will be out next week. Meantime following:
*First Rum Race of the month this Friday. Always a good turn out and see you back in the club. You have to be there to get the rum.
* Last Winter series race this Saturday. Very close in the series with some very close handicap results going down. Prizegiving and a free feed afterwards in the RNZYS.
* Next Club night 30 September is the Winter prizegiving followed by a Capsize forum. There will be interesting speakers and a great chance for us all to combine experience. Its up to us all to share knowledge on the subject. Please all come to this if you can as its a very important subject and we can all learn a lot.
* HSBC Premier Coastal Classic 22 October. Rumours of lots more multis this year, with some 8.5’s also getting into cat 3. Nice one. Who knows, the ride might even be faster than last year. Get your entry in.
* A workshop day is planned for a pre season check and tidy up of your boat. It can be difficult to find time and labour to get those jobs done which might be stopping you from racing, or sailing your boat. Between us there are lots of skills, and hopefully some spare resources we can all share to get your boat up to scratch. So if you need something repaired, riveted, spliced, replaced which could make a difference let us know. The idea is to have a working bee down on WXY , let us know what you need and we will see if we can match up some parts etc. Followed by a few beers etc. More details to follow, but give it some thought. Ps this will not include a complete make over or pimping your ride!
* Nice to hear great reports about Johns new trimaran, and we are also all looking forward to seeing a very radical looking Formula 28 with wings fly out the harbour!! Hope to see you all this weekend.
