Relaxing rallies

Our local cruises take members to a variety of destinations in the Auckland region. Saturday barbecues on Motuihe and informal races to the Riverhead Pub at high tide are common. On long holidays, we coordinate trips like circumnavigating Waiheke over Easter and spending Auckland Anniversary Weekend together at Kawau.

New Zealand’s “Yachting Drag Race”

Celebrated by many as the opening day of the summer racing season, the PIC Coastal Classic starts off Auckland’s Devonport Wharf and covers 119 nautical miles up to Russell in the Bay of Islands each Labour Weekend. It was the brainchild of our member Roger Dilley in 1982, back when we were known as the Auckland Multihull Sailing Association, and has been held annually since its inception.
